| MERCER COUNTY
CARES |
The Mercer County Hospital opened its doors to its first
patient February 1, 1950. The nearly $800,000 building was erected through
combined efforts of a visionary Mercer County Board and local residents who
contributed cash, farms, and property for its construction. For example, a
$15,000 gift equipped the surgical unit, over four hundred acres of prime farm
ground were donated, and a $50,000 bequest was left to the hospital.
Our
ancestors knew that supporting a hospital in Mercer County was good for the
patient, the family, and the well being of the entire Mercer County area.
Today, supporting the hospital is accomplished by the work of the Mercer
Foundation for Health. For more information on how to make a donation to the
Foundation, click
